Solis S6 10kW Hybrid Inverter | S6-EH1P10K-L-PLUS
Product details
The Solis S6 10kW Plus, S6-EH1P10K-L-PLUS, tops Solis's single-phase S6 Plus range for 48 V batteries. It is built for large roofs and large battery banks: four PV strings at up to 21 A each, up to 20 kWp of panels and 210 A of battery current. The house runs on solar first, the battery takes the surplus, and in a power cut the backup circuit switches to the battery in under 10 ms.
It is rated 10 kW (43.5 A at 230 V) and needs G99 approval before connection. It uses up to 16 kW of PV at once, and up to 65 A can pass through to the backup circuit while the grid is on.
S6 10kW Plus at a glance
What's in the box
The 10 kW is covered by Solis's S6-EH1P(3-10)K-L-PLUS(21A) manual (v1.1, October 2025), and this is its packing list, followed by what the installer provides.
- The 10 kW inverter, its back plate and two fastening screws
- Four expansion bolts for the back plate
- Four pairs of MC4 connectors, one for each string
- An ESCT-TA16-100A/50mA CT on a 5 m lead, supplied as standard and compulsory for hybrid installations
- A Wi-Fi/LAN stick for SolisCloud
- A parallel communication cable and four RJ45 connectors
- The quick installation manual
- Does not include a DC cable for connecting to battery storage. Solis specifies 1/0 AWG cable on R60-8 ring terminals for the 10 kW.
- A meter, which is optional (see the questions below)
- PV cable, grid and backup AC cables, and the AC isolator; Solis recommends an 80 A AC breaker for the 10 kW
Panels and strings
Each of the two trackers takes two strings, and each string input is rated 21 A, so a tracker takes up to 42 A, with 48 A short-circuit. That headroom suits today's high-current, large-format panels. Strings on the same tracker should be identical. The trackers run from 90 V to 435 V, start-up is 90 V, and the open-circuit voltage must stay below 500 V on the coldest day.
Full output needs only 186 V of string voltage, the bottom of the full-load MPPT range. Keep two figures apart when sizing: 20 kWp is the largest array Solis recommends, twice the 10 kW rating, and 16 kW, 160% of the rating, is the most PV power the inverter takes in at once, with the remainder clipped.
The battery side
Any 40–60 V lithium or lead-acid battery works, with the BMS linked over CAN or RS485. The 10 kW charges and discharges at up to 10 kW and 210 A, more than any single IntelliHome supplies: the 10 kWh is rated 200 A and the 16 kWh 157 A. For full battery power, run two or more in parallel through a combiner box.
Solis recommends a 300 A DC breaker between the battery and the inverter. Inverters made before April 2026 need a Solis firmware update before commissioning with an IntelliHome, and the "No battery" setting lets it start out as a grid-tied inverter.
Backup, generator and off-grid
The backup port gives 10 kW continuously and up to 20 kW for 10 seconds, plenty for motor and compressor starts. With the grid up, up to 65 A passes straight through to the backup circuit; in a power cut, those loads have to share the inverter's 10 kW.
The GEN port accepts up to 65 A from a generator, with automatic on/off control, and the inverter will run off-grid on solar alone. Existing grid-tied PV can be AC-coupled for export control and off-grid use. Up to six units can run in parallel, and three or more can form a three-phase system.
Grid approval
At 43.5 A per phase, the 10 kW is far above G98's 16 A, so the network operator must approve a G99 application before installation. The installer handles the application and the commissioning paperwork.
Built in
- PV switch, ground-fault and residual-current monitoring, anti-islanding and DC reverse-polarity protection
- A 7-inch LCD and Bluetooth for setup in the Solis app; SolisCloud through the Wi-Fi/LAN stick, with 4G optional
- Fan-assisted intelligent cooling to handle the 10 kW rating
- AFCI arc-fault detection is optional, not standard
On the wall
Despite the higher rating it uses the same 335 × 560 × 253 mm case as the 3 kW, at 23.8 kg. It is IP66 for indoor or outdoor fitting, rated −25 °C to +60 °C, but must be kept out of direct sun and out of living areas, and as it is fan-cooled a garage, plant room or outside wall suits it best.
Hang it vertically, within 5°, with 300 mm clear above, 150 mm at the sides and 500 mm in front. Leave 800 mm between the base and the floor, or 500 mm where no battery cabinet or heat source sits below. Units must not be mounted one above another.

Questions on the 10 kW
Yes. Solis's manual lists it as the S6-EH1P10K-L-PLUS(21A): each of the four PV inputs takes up to 21 A, so it suits high-current panels.
No, the CT supplied is Solis's standard and is compulsory for hybrid use. Prefer a meter? Please note the SOL-METER-1PH-CT1 does not work with the 8K plus, the SOL-METER-1PH-EASTRON is required. For the 10 kW, Solis's manual lists the Eastron SDM120CTM, which reads the supply through its own CT.
Two IntelliHome 10 kWh units in parallel, through a combiner box, cover the full 210 A. A single 10 kWh, at 200 A, comes close on its own.
1/0 AWG on R60-8 ring terminals, the heaviest in the range. It is not supplied.
Yes, from five years to 10 or 20. Quote the serial number in the order notes; Solis issues the certificate in roughly 6 to 8 weeks.
A qualified electrician working to BS 7671, with the battery switched off and checked at 0 V before its cables are touched, as Solis's manual requires.
