K2 InsertionRail 2.0 Cover 30 for 30mm Frames 2.85m
Product details
The Cover 30 is the 2.85 m trim that closes the channel on a K2 InsertionRail 2.0 run. The 30 is the module frame height it is cut for – a 30 mm framed panel sits flush against it. Choose the finish above: white, or black anodised for an all-black array.
A slim section, 32.5 mm high and 20.8 mm wide, in EN AW-6063 T66 aluminium. It clips onto the mounting rail at both the top and the bottom end of the module block, so a finished row is closed at both edges rather than just capped along the top.
What the cover is for
Two jobs, and only one of them is cosmetic. It stops dirt and water collecting inside the insertion rails, which is a genuine maintenance point on a channel that would otherwise sit open to the sky for twenty years. And it closes the visible edge of the array, which is most of the reason InsertionRail gets specified over a clamped system.
K2 rate the InsertionRail 2.0 system for facade as well as pitched roof, and the cover earns its keep more on a wall than on a roof: it is at eye level and seen square on, rather than at a glancing angle from the ground.
Which finish
Functionally identical – the choice is appearance. On a black-framed module the black anodised cover disappears into the array. On anything else the white is the one to take, and it is the cheaper of the two.
Anodised finish may show slight signs of scratching due to packaging and transport. That is K2's own note against the black version, and it is worth passing on to a customer buying specifically for appearance before the pallet is unwrapped in front of them.
Sizing and quantity
Take the 30 from the panel datasheet rather than the model name. Quantity follows the rail run and the fact that the cover closes both ends of the module block, so work from metres of insertion rail rather than the panel count, then round up to whole 2.85 m lengths. Two covers run one 5.70 m rail.
What you also need
The cover is supplied on its own. Everything below is ordered separately.
- The InsertionRail 2.0 itself – the cover finishes a rail, it is not one
- CrossConnector T sets, to fix the insertion rail to the K2 mounting rail beneath
- A FixStop and an EndStop to locate and close each row
- A RailConnector where the run is longer than a single rail
Order alongside
-
K2 InsertionRail 2.0 Mounting Rail, 5.70m
The rail this cover closes, in the matching 30 mm frame size.
-
K2 InsertionRail 2.0 CrossConnector T Set
Fixes the insertion rail to any K2 mounting rail, with the screws outside so it still slides.
-
K2 InsertionRail 2.0 FixStop
Locates the rail on the mounting rail and holds that position while the row is built.
-
K2 InsertionRail 2.0 EndStop
Closes the end of the run so the last module cannot travel off it.
-
K2 InsertionRail 2.0 RailConnector
Joins two rails into one continuous run on a wide array.
Questions on the Cover 30
It matches the module frame height. Take that from the panel datasheet – a 30 mm frame takes this cover, and a deeper frame needs a different size.
Purely appearance. The black disappears on an all-black module; on a silver-framed array there is nothing to match, so the white does the same job for less.
No. It is the trim that closes the top of the InsertionRail. The rail is a separate part and is linked above.
Yes. K2 state it clips to the mounting rail at the top and the bottom end of the module block, so a row is closed on both edges.
On a pallet. At 2.85 m it is beyond parcel carrier length, so it comes kerbside with the rest of the mounting order.
