K2 NSP Climber 36/50 Roof Hook with Slotted Borehole

The Climber 36/50 is K2's NSP roof hook for the 36 and 50 rail profiles. This version has a slotted borehole rather than a round one, and that slot is the reason to choose it.

Rafters sit where the roof was built, not where the array wants them. The slot lets the hook shift sideways on the fixing, so the rail line is set by the layout rather than by whatever centres the carpenter used.

Why a slotted hole

With a round hole the hook lands where the rafter is, and any mismatch is taken up by moving the whole row. With a slot each hook is adjusted independently, which keeps the rail straight across an irregular roof and avoids the compromise of fixing into a batten because the rafter was 30 mm out.

It is a small part that saves disproportionate time on an old roof, where rafter centres are rarely as consistent as a drawing assumes.
