K2 Self-Tapping Screw 6x38mm A2 Stainless Steel (Pack of 500)
Product details
The trade pack of K2's 6 × 38 mm thread-tapping screw – 500 in a box, which is the quantity a roof of any size actually consumes. It is a non-cutting screw, so it forms its own thread rather than drilling a slug of swarf onto the roof.
Approved for sheet from 0.4 mm to 1.25 mm in both steel and aluminium, in A2 stainless with an EPDM seal. It carries abZ, ETA and MCS certification, which is the one that matters on a UK domestic install.
Where it is used
This is the fixing for K2's trapezoidal sheet metal roof details, including BasicClip. The EPDM washer seals the penetration as the screw pulls down, so the fixing and the weatherproofing are the same operation.
Check the sheet gauge before ordering rather than after: below 0.4 mm the screw has too little material to form a thread in, and above 1.25 mm it is outside what K2 approve.
Pack of 500, or singly
This page is the 500 pack. The identical screw is also stocked as a single unit for topping up a van stock or finishing a job, and that is linked below. Work out the count from the fixing centres in the K2 layout and buy the pack if the job needs more than a couple of hundred – the per-screw cost is lower in the box.
- 500 × K2 self-tapping screw, 6 × 38 mm, A2 stainless with EPDM seal
- The rail, clips and roof fixings the screws go into – all ordered separately

Questions on the 6x38 screw
It comes out of the fixing centres in the K2 layout rather than the panel count. A pack of 500 covers most domestic jobs with a margin.
No. It is thread-tapping for non-cutting processing, so it forms its own thread in sheet from 0.4 to 1.25 mm.
No. The EPDM seal is part of the screw, so the fixing and the seal go in together.
Yes. K2 list abZ, ETA and MCS certification against this screw.
